ELECTION RESULTS for Pickens County Republican Party (PCRP)
- Non-binding referendum re: multi-person commissioner vs. sole commissioner passed 65+%: project to prepare legislation and binding referendum to be undertaken
- 14 Republicans qualified for primary with NO Democrats qualifying
- 2 candidates for sheriff will be in 8/5 run-off
- 2 independents have qualified to run for Sole Commissioner and Coroner
- 2 non-partisan candidates run for Tax Commissioner and Probate Judge
- PCRP sponsored 3 candidates' forums in different areas of the county for all Republican candidates
- PCRP sponsored a combined "tomato sandwich" fundraiser and candidates' forum with 130 in attendance and netted $600
- PCRP sponsored a candidates' forum for two sheriff candidates in run-off
- In Senate district 51 Chip Pearson received 21,355 votes in 7/15 primary, the most of any Republican senate candidates
- In house district 12 Tom Graves received 6,912 votes, the most for any Republican house candidates
